The Chemours Company, previously Southern Ionics Minerals, LLC. (SIM) is a heavy mineral surface Chemours has active mines in Brantley, Charlton, and Wayne counties in Southeast Georgia. Between their three offices and over 60 employees, they have focused on the extraction and processing of zircon, natural rutile, Ilmenite, and leucoxene since 2014. Among members of their dedicated team are several environmental experts to ensure that lands are mined and minerals processed sustainably and responsibly. Our team of experts provides expertise on the proactive management and mitigation of wildlife on their property, with special attention directed towards gopher tortoise (Gopherus polyphemus) populations. Much of the property acquired by Chemours to mine is currently or was previously in silviculture rotation with scattered wetlands and pockets of naturally occurring vegetation.
